Key roads in Norcross

• Interstate 85 (I-85) runs through central Georgia and into Alabama. Join it south of the city to head directly into downtown Atlanta.
• US Route 23 (US 23) starts in Jacksonville,Florida, and heads north through Atlanta before looping east to Norcross, where it forms the Buford Highway.
• Georgia State Route 140 (GA 140) branches off from the I-85 and heads north along Norcross’ west. Follow it to reach Roswell and the I-575.

How to get from Norcross to Atlanta

It takes around 25 minutes to drive the 20 miles from our Hertz pickup location on Buford Highway to downtown Atlanta, depending on traffic levels:

1. Leave the car rental parking lot on Buford Highway NE.
2. Turn left to join the GA 140 East.
3. After a mile-and-a-half, use the right lane to merge on to the I-85 South.
4. In around 16 miles, take Exit 249A towards Georgia State University.
5. Use the left lanes to join Courtland Street NE into Downtown.

How to get from Norcross to Athens

Athens is just over an hour’s drive from Norcross. Just leave the city along the US 23 and GA 378 to join the I-85 North. Then take Exit 106 to merge on to GA 316 East for 39 miles, before joining the US 78 East into the city.
