It all started back in 1932, when Ole Kirk Christiansen, a local carpenter, first started creating toys in his workshop.
Back then Billund was a mostly unknown, quiet town in the heart of Denmark. Today it may still be small in size, but it is thriving thanks to the LEGO phenomenon that has grown out of it.
Visit LEGOLAND Billund
LEGOLAND opened in Billund in 1968, and this colorful park offers fun for actual kids and big kids alike.
There are more than 50 rides situated across various areas, including Miniland, Duplo Land, Adventure Land, Polar Land, Pirate Land and Knight’s Kingdom.
Head to the heights at Legotop, where you can take in the whole park from high above the attractions. Need to cool down? Ride the LEGO Canoe through white water rapids. Or how about X-treme Racers or Polar X-plorer? This roller coaster travels at speed and is ideal for thrill seekers.
There are plenty of places to stop for a snack when you get hungry, and stores to pick up a souvenir too.
LEGO House - The Home of the Brick
You’ll know you are at the right building as soon as you pull up outside – as it was designed to look like it’s made from LEGO bricks.
Inside, behold the incredible Tree of Creativity, which at 50 feet high is the largest LEGO construction in the world.
Next, be sure to explore the Masterpiece Gallery, home to mesmerizing works of LEGO art created by fans. Afterwards, make your way to the Red Zone and let your imagination run wild as you use the bricks in here to create your own masterpieces. You might like to take inspiration from what you have already seen or come up with your own ideas.
Finally, before you leave, don’t miss the History Collection, where you can rekindle nostalgia and go back in the mists of time with iconic LEGO sets from over the years.
