Maserati is one of the world’s more exotic car-makers. The Italian sports specialist has been creating desirable cars with the three-pointed trident badge for over 100 years. Its first ever four-seater convertible car only arrived recently however.

If you are lucky enough to hire a Grancabrio S, you’ll find it has all the performance and style you’d expect from a Maserati. It’s the open-top version of the acclaimed GranTourismo range – a classic sports car that goes as good as it looks. Both hardtop and convertible versions share the same high performance 4.7-liter V8 engine. This powers the car to a top speed just over 175mph while the 0-60mph benchmark sprint takes just five seconds.

Unlike most sport ‘four-seaters’, the GranCabrio’s luxurious leather-covered interior has four full size seats. The cabin features plenty of equipment and premium materials. Best of all, simply press a button and the triple-layer fabric roof folds cleverly into its stowage space behind the rear seats. Within 25 seconds the car is converted into a glamorous fresh-air driving machine. You can operate the roof mechanism up to speeds of 19mph and that throaty V8 sounds even better with the roof down.
